Frosted Cupcakey is icing on the cake! Or at least that’s what it specializes in. Mint Chip, Nutella Buttercream and Caramel Toffee are just some of the frostings topping the sweet treats. Store owner Stacia Hanley says her frosting is what keeps customers coming back. The cupcakes are frosted with an offset spatula to give them a homemade but sophisticated look, Stacia said.
The store offers 16 flavors year round plus a specialty flavor of the month. Stacia and her mother’s newest creation is a delicious ice cream cupcake. That’s right! A giant cupcake on the outside with a scoop of ice cream on the inside.
Frosted Cupcakery is the only cupcakery in Belmont Shore. Stacia opened the store with her mother after seeing the success of Magnolia Bakery in New York. Now the cupcakery has been a staple in the Long Beach community for the past three years. In fact, the cupcakery has become so popular that it will soon be moving locations to a storefront on Second Street three times the size of the one now.
The store won “Most Creative Flavors” in the 2008 OC Register’s OC cupcake challenge reader’s poll. And My Fox LA voted Frosted Cupcakery Best Cupcakes in 2007.

Bite-sized baby cupcakes are what makes this bakery stand out. Just pop 'em in your mouth to enjoy one of store owner Amy Berman's delicious desserts. Baking was a favorite pastime of Berman when she was young. She remembers baking with her grandmother while her mother always had treats ready for her after school.
After a few years working in the entertainment industry and bringing her baked goodies to the sets of Will & Grace and The Office, Berman decided to go to the California School of Culinary Arts. While in school Berman noticed the success of Magnolia bakery in New York and decided to jump on the bakery buisness trend. Berman now shares her passion for baking with her husband who is co-owner of the store. Instead of practicing law, her husband decided to pursue the bakery with her.
Vanilla Bake Shop has been opened for about a year now and along with mini cupcakes serves up a variety of all-American desserts. Berman developed her signiture mini cupcakes on accident after a catering manager suggested she shrink her desserts so that actors could easily eat them while on set. Red Velvet is the most popular seller in her store, but famous homemaker Martha Stewart loves the Meyer Lemon Rasberry which Berman baked on her show.

Customized Cupcakes are the craze at Cupcakes & Co. This family owned Burbank cupcakery has only been open for a few months, but it's already being recognized for its tasty treats by Warner Brothers and Ellen DeGeneres. Store owner Maryanne Tongko says her customized work differentiates her cupcakery among other bakeries following the cupcake trend.
The Tongko family owned a restaurant in Sunland California for years before they decided to open a cupcakery. The store was Tongko's mother's vision. She came up with all the recipes. Finding the right recipes and the right location is key to success in this fiercely competitive cupcake buisness, said Tongko, whose store is located next to major television and movie studios.
That's why the name Cupcake & Co. was left open ended-it gives the store a change to morph into a full service bakery if need be in the future. Already, Tongko is making giant cakes shaped like cupcakes and pull-apart cupcake cakes.
Cupcakes & Co. offers a unique variety of flavored cupcakes like Purple Yam. But it also boasts all the favorites and most popular flavors like Red Velvet and Strawberry. Each day the store features nine rotating flavors.
Tongko's goal is to make customers feel right at home in her mom and pop cupcake shop.
